Asbestos Management

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 require the Duty Holder not only to identify and assess the asbestos materials in their premises, but to manage the risks from any asbestos and have a management plan in place.

What is a Duty Holder?

The Duty Holder as defined by the Regulations is "anyone who has by virtue of tenancy or contract a responsibility for the maintenance of a property or access and egress to or form that property.

If you own your own property, manage property on behalf of your clients or are a tenant you are likely to be the Duty Holder under these regulations.

What do I have to do?

The regulations are specific in defining the responsibilities of the Duty Holder:

  • Identify and keep a written record of asbestos in your premises. See our surveying services.
  • Assess the risk for the asbestos materials identified and keep a written record.
  • Make the information available to anyone who may need it including the emergency services.
  • Develop and implement an Asbestos Management Plan to manage and control the risks associated with ACM's on your premises.
  • Re-inpsect your identified or presumed ACM's at least annually and keep a written record.
